The Islander LX Series, new for the 2001 season, is the result of a
decade of development. The five LX models incorporate Islander's
renowned drag system into an extremely light spool and frame. The
open-face spool construction, with ventilated arbor, is designed for
minimal weight while maintaining Islander's reputation for unsurpassed
durability.
Features
Solid construction, resilient to the abuses
of salt, sand, and rough handling
Large arbor for fast retrieve and consistent drag
Frame side, graphite impregnated cork drag system reduces
start-up inertia
Like
other Islander reels, the popular IR Series series has been engineered
to last a lifetime. Crafted with the same precision and attention to
detail as other Islanders, the IR series sets the standard for purist
click and pawl reels. Ultra-smooth incoming and outgoing action is the
result of refined engineering - an integrated relationship between
spring, pawl and gear. The frame, foot, spool and other components are
manufactured from 6000 series billet aluminum bar stock, using computer
controlled machines.
A frame side, five level drag adjustment provides a wide range of drag
pressure. The spool rides on oilite bearings and is precision fit to the
spindle which translates into smooth action and zero endplay. The
series’ simple design also makes switching between left and right hand
retrieve as easy as a quick flip of the pawls - no tools required.
